Yeah, I went fishing... visited 2 cemeteries and drove by and through 10 more. Making sure the memorials set for veterans are correct and safe. Giving 100% respect for a few minutes to those who came before, did the deal and aren’t breathing from one who still is. It’s my duty as veteran who no longer actively serves in arms and even if I wasn’t a Legionnaire, I’d still do this. I will be buried around here someday and would want the same done for me.
Who wouldn’t want a butt-kicking IOWA boy visiting you on a beautiful morning talking sh*t about the world and the one that got away. It gives a break from the eternal sleep that is only interrupted by heaven’s dreams. Veterans from the Civil War, WW 1 & 2, Korea and a couple from the Vietnam & Black Hawk Indian Wars. With flags waving, all inspected and passed, one crumpled American Legion poppy recovered, repaired and placed on grave site properly. I hope it was the wind...
The Un-American Faction, the worst of the fashion politics trend are now militant and will seek to disrespect the day and make pathetic political statements. They were told to assault at will anything honoring the day. I know there are people that live in IOWA that hate me, my beliefs and what I stand for especially today and stealing flags at a cemetery is easy.
I didn’t find any losers sporting Che t-shirts, but I did catch a walleye. Veterans buried in my kingdom are safe and secure, honored and respected, loved and missed.
